| ALS, also called Lou Gehrig's Disease, is a rapidly progressive, neuromuscular disease that attacks the motor neurons responsible for transmitting electrical impulses from the brain to the voluntary muscles throughout the body. When the muscles fail to receive messages they eventually lose strength, atrophy and die.
Those with ALS remain mentally sharp and in full possession of their ability to see, hear, taste, smell and touch. Science does not yet know a cause for ALS, nor does it have a cure. Neurological Associates aims to help maximize quality of life for patients with ALS.
