The Mid Ohio EMG Center at Neurological Associates signifies our commitment to excellence in electromyography (EMG) - an important neurological test that has been performed at Neurological Associates since 1974. Our medical director, Dr. William Mayr, completed his medical internship, neurology residency and clinical neurophysiology (EMG) fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) as both a neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist (EMG specialist), Dr. Mayr leads the EMG efforts of our team of eight neurologists.
Before an EMG test is administered, the neurologist will conduct a focused neurological history and physical examination in order to customize the test to the patient's unique problem. This allows the right neurological questions to be asked and answered by the test. Our expertise shines with the additional layer of interpretation that our neurologists can provide - answering pivotal questions such as "Do the results adequately explain the patient's symptoms?" and "What additional neurological workup or testing is needed?"
If the test results indicate that a patient requires additional neurological assessment and care, the neurologist performing the EMG is well positioned to do so—having already developed a good understanding of the case and strong rapport with the patient during the test.
When indicated, our neurologists can utilize the multi-disciplinary neuroscience team at Neurological Associates, including neurosurgeons, spine physiatrist/ pain consultant, EEG, ENG evoked potentials, physical therapy center, Mediback lower back pain program, and an onsite infusion center.
