Dr. Erick A. Arce

portrait Erick A. Arce, M.D., A.B.P.N., is a highly accomplished neurologist who specializes in electromyography, stroke, epilepsy, neuromuscular diseases and multiple sclerosis (MS).

He completed his residency with the Department of Neurology at The Ohio State University, where he received the Resident Scholarship Award from the American Academy of Neurology and the Resident of the Year award from The OSU Department of Neurology. He served clinical clerkships with the Department of Internal Medicine at the Metropolitan General Hospital in Cleveland, and with the Emergency Room and Internal Medicine department of Santa Barbara University Hospital in Sucre, Bolivia. He currently serves as a member of the consulting and teaching staff at Riverside Methodist Hospital, where he is medical director of the Neurodiagnostic Laboratory.

Dr. Arce was graduated cum laude from Philipps University School of Medicine in Marburg, Germany, with a doctor of medicine degree. He earned a humanities baccalaureate degree from Edertalschule Gymnasium in Frankenberg, Germany and studied at the Deutsche Schule Sucre in Sucre, Bolivia, where he was valedictorian. His past teaching and research appointments in neuroscience have led to authorship of numerous journal articles and abstracts on neurological subjects.

A Columbus resident, Dr. Arce is fluent in three languages: English, Spanish and German. He enjoys drawing and painting, golf, music and vintage cars.

Dr. Janet Bay

portrait Janet W. Bay, M.D., is a Cleveland Clinic Foundation-trained neurosurgeon who specializes in brain tumors, skull base surgery and complex spine work, including spinal instrumentation.

She is a staff neurosurgeon at Riverside Methodist Hospital of Columbus. 

Dr. Bay was on staff for seven years at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where she was head of the section of neuro-oncology and Assistant Director of the Office of Professional Staff Affairs. A past president of the Riverside medical staff, she is also affiliated with Grady Memorial Hospital in Delaware, OH.

Dr. Bay received her doctor of medicine degree cum laude from The Ohio State University. Her surgical internship was at the University of Michigan Medical Center. After a year of neurology residency at New York University, she completed a neurosurgery residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

The author of many articles and papers, Dr. Bay was accredited by the American Board of Neurological Surgery in 1983. Dr. Bay enjoys travel, standard-bred horses and sports.

Dr. Albert L. Berarducci, Jr.

Berarducci, Jr., M.D., A.B.P.N., is an accomplished neurologist whose specialties include disorders of peripheral nerve and muscle - such as neuropathy, myositis, nerve injuries like carpal tunnel syndrome, and many other similar conditions, disorders of balance and dizziness, management of chronic headache and interactive neurological testing, including electromyography, electronystagmography, evoked potentials, intraoperative monitoring. He is on staff at Riverside Methodist Hospital where he formerly served as neurology section chief.

Says Dr. Berarducci, "Throughout my career, I have been privileged to learn from several of the greatest neurologists of our time. By their example and guidance, I have become a neurologist in their image. I take a little bit of their character, integrity and style along with me to each and every patient encounter."

A Connecticut native, Dr. Berarducci graduated cum laude from Williams College in Massachusetts and received his medical doctor degree from New York University Medical School in Manhattan. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at Case Western Reserve University Hospitals in Cleveland. His residency in neurology was at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He also completed a research fellowship in neuroanatomy and neurogenetics at the Research Institute of the Montreal General Hospital and McGill University, Montreal, Quebec.

He has been board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology since 1983, and is the author of a book chapter entitled Intracerebral Hemorrhage, published in 1985 and has presented research papers at national meetings.

Dr. Rebecca P. Brightman

Dr. Brightman is a board-certified neurosurgeon and the Medical Director of the Riverside Neuroscience Institute.

She specializes in all adult neurosurgical procedures including spine, cerebrovascular disease and brain tumors.

Dr. Brightman is a native of Columbus. She completed her undergraduate work at Duke University and she received her doctor of medicine degree from Boston University, graduating magna cum Laude and valedictorian. Her neurosurgery residency was completed at The Ohio State University Medical Center.

Dr. Brightman and her husband, Dr. William Wise, live in Columbus and have three children. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.

Dr. Ward P. Buster

portrait Dr. Buster is a board-certified neurosurgeon who specializes in the care of the adult neurological surgery patient. His areas of special interest are the spine, brain tumors, cerebrovascular, and peripheral nerves.

Dr. Buster attended Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa on an athletic scholarship for wrestling where he was an Academic All-American and received a bachelor's degree in biology. He then attended the College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, where he received his medical degree.

Dr. Buster's medical training includes an internship at Henry Ford and Riverside Hospitals in Detroit and general surgery training at Jewish Hospital in Cincinnati. His neurological surgery training was obtained through the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Long Island Jewish Hospital in New York and Midwestern University in Illinois at Bromenn Regional Medical Center.

Dr. Buster and his wife Teresa have two daughters. He enjoys spending time together as a family, traveling and fishing.

Dr. Ronald Dorbish
Neurosurgeon

Ronald J. Dorbish, D.O. is a neurosurgeon specializing in conditions of the spine.

Dr. Dorbish completed his medical training at the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. He received additional training from his internship and residency at Doctor’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio where he received the award for Neurosurgical Resident of the Year.

Dr. Dorbish is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association, and the American College of Surgeons. His research includes topics associated with the biomechanics of the spine and spinal fusions.

Dr. Geoffrey Eubank

portrait Geoffrey A. Eubank, M.D., A.B.P.N., is an accomplished neurologist who specializes in electromyography and other electrodiagnostics, stroke, multiple sclerosis and epilepsy. 

Dr. Eubank is currently Medical Director of the Mid Ohio MS Center at Neurological Associates.

He is on the medical staff at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, where he is stroke coordinator, and Galion Community Hospital in Galion, OH. Active as a volunteer physician for free clinics and for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, he has published research in several areas and is a member of several medical societies. He is also involved with research in multiple sclerosis and stroke.

A native of Pompton Plains, NJ, Dr. Eubank attended Pennsylvania State University and graduated from Muskingum College majoring in chemistry and mathematics. He obtained his medical doctor degree from The Ohio State University. He completed his preliminary medicine internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital and his neurology residency at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where he was chief neurology resident.

He was certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in 1996.

He and his wife live in Upper Arlington with their daughter and son. In his spare time, Dr. Eubank enjoys sports, particularly running, skiing and golf, and Bible studies.

Dr. James Fulop

portrait James P. Fulop, M.D., A.B.P.N., A.B.S.M., is a talented neurologist who specializes in sleep medicine, electrodiagnostics and a broad spectrum of neurologic conditions such as stroke, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, balance disorders and Alzheimer's disease.

He earned his medical doctor degree at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr. Fulop completed his internal medicine internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He completed his training in neurology at The Ohio State University Hospital, where he served as the chief resident in neurology. He is board certified in neurology and sleep medicine.

He is licensed by the State Medical Board of Ohio and is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a diplomate of the American Board of Physiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Sleep Medicine. Active in the medical community, Dr. Fulop is associated with the American Academy of Neurology, the American Medical Association, and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

A resident of Powell, he enjoys spending time with his family and outdoor activities.

Charles W. Hall, M.D., Ph.D. is a staff physician with Neurological Associates, Inc. A native of Columbus, his areas of clinical interest include, but are not limited to, epilepsy/EEG, neuromuscular/EMG, neurotology/ENG, cerebrovascular disease, movement disorders, behavioral neurology, headache and neuropathic pain.

Dr. Hall also serves as medical director of neurodiagnostic medicine specializing in epilepsy monitoring, electroencephalography (EEG) and intra-operative neurophysiologic monitoring at Riverside Methodist Hospital.

After completing his undergraduate training in electrical engineering at The Ohio State University, Dr. Hall entered the Physician Scientist Training Program at the University of Cincinnati, where he completed medical school and earned a Ph.D. in electrophysiology.

He completed an internship in internal medicine, a residency program in neurology and a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology with an emphasis on electroencephalogram (EEG), epilepsy and epilepsy surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Hall also served as an associate consultant in the Department of Neurology at Mayo Clinic Rochester before returning to Columbus, Ohio.

In his free time, Dr. Hall enjoys biking, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.

Dr. Kristin Johnson
Neurologist

Kristin M. Johnson, D.O is a neurologist with special interest in neuromuscular conditions.

Dr. Johnson received her medical degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. She then completed the University Hospitals Case Medical Center’s residency program, where she received the Outstanding Resident Teaching Award and took on the role of Chief Resident in Neurology. There she also became a fellow in neuromuscular medicine and electromyography (EMG).

Dr. Johnson is a member of multiple medical associations including the American Academy of Neurology, American Medical Association, and the American Osteopathic Association

Dr. William T. Mayr

portrait William T. Mayr, M.D., A.B.P.N., is a dedicated and compassionate neurological clinician and teacher. He is currently the director of the Mid Ohio EMG Center at Neurological Associates, Inc.

Dr. Mayr specializes in general neurology with a focus in clinical neurophysiology, electromyography and neuromuscular disease. He also has special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of movement disorders including torticollis and other dystonias, stroke and epilepsy. Dr. Mayr takes pride in the education of his patients to help them better understand their specific medical workups, diagnoses and treatments, and he continues to teach neurology to physicians-in-training.

A native of Ohio, Dr. Mayr earned his medical degree at The Ohio State University in 1998, graduated cum laude and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) medical honor society. He then completed an internship and neurology residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota from 1998-2002. He completed additional fellowship training in clinical neurophysiology, with a focus in electromyography, at the Mayo Clinic from 2002-2003.

While in training, Dr. Mayr was selected to teach the first-year basic neuroscience course at the Mayo Medical School and earned "Excellence in Teaching" recognition in 2001-2002. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in both neurology and neurophysiology (EMG and EEG testing).

Dr. Mayr is a resident of Dublin, Ohio and enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies include hiking, canoeing, cycling, traveling and reading.

Dr. Mike Meagher

He is a senior active staff member at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Dr. Meagher obtained his medical doctor degree at The Ohio State University. His internship was at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO. His residency was at SUNY Upstate Medical Center, where he also was a clinical instructor and completed a fellowship in neurophysiology.

Active in many medical associations, Dr. Meagher is past chairman of the Department of Surgery and director of NICU at Riverside Methodist Hospital.

A Columbus resident, Dr. Meagher enjoys hunting and fishing.

Dr. Yeshwant P. Reddy

Dr. Reddy believes in offering state of the art technology in spine pain, with care and compassion to his patients. He uses a sports medicine approach in the comprehensive rehabilitation of injured workers with spine pain.

Dr. Reddy is board certified in physical medicine & rehabilitation and pain medicine through the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Glasgow, UK. Orthopedic surgical training in England, physical medicine training and a fellowship in spine and pain make him an expert in the field of non-operative treatment of spinal disorders. His experience in electrodiagnostic medicine and spinal injections help the spine surgeons formulate a successful treatment plan in the management of back and neck problems.

He is an active member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Physiatric Association of Spine Sports & Occupational Rehabilitation, North American Spine Society, American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, American Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine and American Academy of Pain Medicine.

Dr. Reddy lectures and teaches at various Interventional Pain Courses around the country and he is on the medical staff at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

He lives in Dublin with his wife, Shalini, and their two sons. In his spare time he enjoys cooking, music and biking.

Dr. Sigurdur Stephensen

Dr. Stephensen is on staff at Riverside Methodist Hospital and Children's Hospital of Columbus. He also is an assistant clinical professor in The Ohio State University Department of Surgery, where he twice received the Neurosurgery Resident Teaching Award.

He received his medical degree from the University of Manitoba in Canada. He completed his internship in mixed surgery at the University of Manitoba and his residency in neurological surgery at The Ohio State University. He completed fellowships in clinical neurosurgery at Riverside Methodist Hospital and Toronto Western Hospital. He is certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery.

A Columbus resident, Dr. Stephensen enjoys playing classical piano.

Dr. Adam Ueberroth
Neurologist

Adam N. Ueberroth, M.D. is a neurologist with special interest in neurodiagnostic testing and evaluation.

Dr. Ueberroth received his medical degree in neuroscience from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. He continued his medical training in Cleveland at the Cleveland Clinic as an intern, resident, chief neurology resident and a fellow in the neurophysiology department. Dr. Ueberroth’s research has included the study of electromyography (EMG), Alzheimer’s, and biochemistry.

He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society. Dr. Ueberroth has also contributed to journals such as Clinical Neurophysiology and Journal of the International Neuropsychological Society.

Dr. Robert Wyatt

portrait Robert H. Wyatt, M.D., A.B.P.N., is a respected neurologist who diagnoses and treats a wide range of neurological problems with special interest in peripheral neuropathy, epilepsy, balance disorders and dizziness.

Dr. Wyatt has been active on the medical staff of Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus since 1982. He is a clinical assistant professor of neurology at The Ohio State University School of Medicine, where he taught full-time for several years.

He has received two Outstanding Teacher of the Year awards from neurology residents at The Ohio State University (1992) and from Riverside Methodist Hospital's internal medicine residents (1990).

Dr. Wyatt received his medical doctor degree from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He completed his internship in internal medicine and his residency in neurology at The Ohio State University, serving as chief resident in neurology. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

A resident of Worthington, Dr. Wyatt enjoys choral music and is the choral director at Worthington Baptist Church. He also enjoys playing the trumpet, swimming, sailing, biking and reading, particularly history.

Laura Popelar
Registered Nurse Practitioner

Laura Popelar, R.N., M.S., C.N.P., C.N.R.N., is an experienced neurology nurse practitioner who has worked in a variety of levels of care in neuroscience nursing, from acute care to critical care.

She has been active in the neuroscience nursing practice at Riverside Methodist Hospitals since 1990. She became a Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse in 1995 and a Certified Nurse Practitioner in 1997.

A native of Central Ohio, Ms. Popelar received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Master of Science at the Ohio State University.

She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society, the American Association of Advanced Practice Nurses and the National Headache Foundation.

Ms. Popelar is a long-term board member of the Central Ohio Chapter of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses, where she has served as President, Vice President, Secretary, and newsletter co-editor.

She enjoys listening to outdoor music and vacationing with her family in San Antonio, Texas, and the Les Cheneaux Islands in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Corey Urbanski
Physical Therapist

Corey B. Urbanski is a licensed physical therapist with a special interest in radiculopathies, numbness in the upper extremities, stenosis, and postural problems.

An Ohio native, Mr. Urbanski received his bachelor's degree in biology and pre-medical studies from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and his master's degree in physical therapy from Andrews University in Dayton.

He has a strong background in physical therapy for neuroscience patients, completing his neurological clinical rotations locally at St. Ann's Hospital and at HealthSouth in San Diego. At Neurological Associates, he currently sees patients for the evaluation and treatment of neck, back, and upper spine conditions.

Mr. Urbanski is active in the American Physical Therapy Association and has written feature articles on postural problems for local news organizations.

He currently resides in Columbus. In his spare time, Mr. Urbanski travels and is active in his community, coaching local children's soccer teams.

Stephen Barr, Ph.D.

Stephen A. Barr, Ph.D., president and director of the MediBack program, brings an extensive and impressive background of clinical research, exercise and fitness administration, physiology studies, and director of health improvement programs to the MediBack program.

As president and director of the MediBack program, Dr. Barr brings his extensive research of results driven and enhanced effectiveness programs to provide a comprehensive protocol for the treatment and care of lower back pain patients.

Dr. Barr is a graduate of The Ohio State University, Ph.D. Exercise Physiology; Wright State University, M.S. Biological Sciences; and The Ohio State University, B.S. Zoology. His community involvement includes Adjunct Associate Professor for the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and Restorative Care, committee member on the task force on health promotion/disease prevention, faculty curriculum committee, voluntary clinical professor at Wright State University School of Medicine, faculty member for the adult degree program at Capital University, and past voluntary assistant professor of physiology and biophysics at Wright State University School of Medicine.

Dr. Barr's articles and abstracts have appeared in numerous publications over the course of his career. His affiliations include membership in the American College of Sports Medicine, past member of the steering committee to formulate a Governor's council on physical fitness and health, and past member of the planning committee for the seminar "The Revolution in Industrial Fitness and Recreation: Toward Improving the Health of the Working Force," presented by The Ohio State University's Continuing Education division; The Laboratory of Work Physiology; The Ohio State University and Battelle Memorial Institute, and he has served as past president of the Dayton Athletic Association.

Dr. Barr and his wife have two children and enjoy family outdoor activities such as camping and hiking. Dr. Barr also counts woodworking as one of his many hobbies.

Amy A. Kliber, M.Ed.
MediBack Program Coordinator and Exercise Specialist

Amy A. Kliber, M.Ed., C.H.E.S., brings an extensive background in health, exercise and physiology to the MediBack program. Amy's educational background includes a bachelor of science degree in exercise science and master of community health education, both from Wayne State University in Detroit. She is a certified health education specialist from the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, and a certified exercise specialist from the American Council on Exercise.

In addition to her educational accomplishments, Amy has experience as a director of a fitness center, an exercise physiology lab tester, coordinator of health and exercise physiology research projects, and as a personal health and wellness consultant.

Amy enjoys running and all forms of exercise, spending time with her family and friends in the outdoors, and is a big sports fan.

Doug J. DeProfio
Physician Assistant

Doug J. DeProfio, PA-C is a board certified neurosurgical physician assistant with Neurological Associates. Mr. DeProfio works closely with neurosurgeons and patients throughout the entire surgical procedure, from obtaining a patient's pre-operative medical history and performing physical exams to surgical assisting, to post-operative patient care.

Mr. DeProfio received his bachelor of science degree in allied health professions from The Ohio State University, graduating cum laude. He received his master of science degree in physician studies from Midwestern University, Chicago, IL.

He is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a registered physician assistant with the State Medical Board of Ohio. He is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, doing home improvement projects, and working outdoors.

Cheryl L. Miller
Physician Assistant

Cheryl L. Miller, PA-C is a board certified neurosurgical physician assistant with Neurological Associates. Ms. Miller works closely with neurosurgeons and patients throughout the entire surgical procedure from obtaining a patient’s pre-operative medical history and performing physical exams, to surgical assisting, to post-operative patient care.

Ms. Miller graduated from physician assistant school in Dayton, OH in 1983, her bachelor of professional studies degree in health care management from the University System of New Hampshire, and her master of science degree for practicing physician assistants from Finch University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School in Chicago, IL.

Ms. Miller has also served as a physician assistant in the Army National Guard and Reserves and as a medical laboratory specialist in the U.S. Army.

She is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a registered physician assistant with the State Medical Board of Ohio. She is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Association for Neurosurgical Physician Assistants.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, fencing, sailing and most outdoor activities.

Angela Weatherwax
Physician Assistant

Angela Weatherwax, PA-C is a board certified neurological physician assistant with Neurological Associates. Mrs. Weatherwax works closely with the neurologists at Riverside Methodist Hospital and helps manage, treat, and educate patients with strokes, seizures, multiple sclerosis, headaches, as well as many other neurological conditions.

Mrs. Weatherwax received her bachelor of science degree in biology from Ohio Northern University. She received her master of science degree in physician assistant practice from Rosalind Franklin School of Medicine and Science, formerly the Finch University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School in Chicago, IL.

She is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is a registered physician assistant with the State Medical Board of Ohio. She is an active member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants. She is also certified in advanced cardiac life support and basic life support.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, engaging in sporting activities and traveling.
