Visit Information
As the oldest and most complete neuroscience practice in central Ohio, we offer a full range of neuroscience specialties. So no matter what type of situation you're facing, we can get the results you need.
All of our doctors spend the time and energy it takes to find the answers to your questions. And when we get them, we spend the time to explain them to you clearly, calmly and carefully.
Because at Neurological Associates, we strongly believe that you shouldn't have to be a brain surgeon just to have a conversation with one.
Scheduling an Appointment
Contact us to schedule an appointment at any Neurological Associates location.
Preparing for Your First Appointment
- When you schedule your first appointment, our staff may ask about the nature of your problem and your physician's arrangements for your care.
- We will also need all medical records related to your neuroscience condition at the time of your first visit, including any X-rays or previous surgery records.
- If you need to obtain X-rays or records from a doctor other than the physician who referred you to Neurological Associates, please have these sent to us before your first appointment.
- It is also very important for our medical staff to know exactly what medications you take and if you have any known drug allergies. Please bring this information to your first appointment.
- It is vital for you to understand your treatment plan, so we encourage questions. Before you come in, we suggest that you take a moment to write down any questions you want to ask your physician.
- When you arrive at the office, please tell the staff if your address, telephone number, primary doctor, insurance coverage, or any other important information has changed.
Delays
Due to the nature of our practice, we may have to delay your appointment time while your physician deals with an emergency or a patient with a complicated problem. We know your time is valuable, and we appreciate your patience during any delays you may experience.
If an emergency causes us to cancel your appointment, we apologize in advance for any inconvenience. We will reschedule your appointment as soon as possible.
Canceling
We ask for at least 24 hours notice when you need to cancel or change your appointment. This gives us the opportunity to give an appointment to a patient with an urgent need. Please let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to keep your appointment.
Prescriptions
Please remember to ask your doctor to write any needed prescriptions while you are in the office. If necessary, you can ask your pharmacist to call during office hours to have your prescription refilled. Be sure to give the pharmacist the name of your medicine and the prescription number on the bottle. The office assistant can refill most prescriptions over the telephone.
New prescriptions require your doctor's authorization. You will need to get authorization during office hours.
Office Calls
You can call our office during office hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., to schedule an appointment or ask a question about your care. It is not always possible for your own physician to speak personally to you when you call, but one of our doctors or trained office staff will return your call as soon as possible.
During regular office hours, staff members who are familiar with your case and have access to your records are available to take your call. If your questions are not urgent, we suggest you write them down and bring them to your next office visit. Please limit your after-hours calls to emergencies only.
Emergencies and After-hours Emergencies
One of our physicians is on-call 24 hours a day for emergencies. If you should have an emergency at any time,
call (614) 533-5500. Our answering service contacts the on-call physician immediately.
If the physician determines you need immediate help, you will be sent to an appropriate hospital emergency room, where a member of the hospital staff will treat you. Your physician will be notified about the situation.
If you have a life-threatening emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency room immediately.
